Medical Marijuana and Lung Cancer Tumors |
Lung cancer tumors can be fast growing and spread to adjoining organs and tissue in the body. Studies that show medical marijuana is able to effectively cut down the fact growing cells significantly due to its active properties. Researchers at Harvard University tested the active compound THC in the lab and in mouse studies. They found THC targets the cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2. This works in a similar function to endocannabinoids that play a role in biological functioning, including pain anxiety and inflammation.
There has been a recent study conducted in a British pilot study in human glioblastoma, in which the researchers demonstrated two different lung cancer cell lines. the second was patient lung tumor samples and non-toxic dosages of THC that inhibited growth and spread of in the cells lines. The THC inhibited the growth and the spread of the cell lines.
